Walking Under Water nominated for Doc Alliance Selection Award

The European Doc Alliance Selection Award is awarded by the independent Doc Alliance platform uniting seven key European documentary festivals. For the 2015 award, Walking Under Water is one of the seven films to be nominated. The award ceremony will take a place at Locarno IFF on 8 August, 2015, when the winner will be announced in the presence of the seven Doc Alliance festival directors, the jury and the public. Visionary Award at IWFF

Walking Under Water received the Visionary Award at the 38th International Wildlife Film Festival in Montana held in April.


Honorable mention at Cinema Planeta

At the 2015 Cinema Planeta festival in Mexico, Walking Under Water gets an Honorable Mention “for having managed to bring the audience closer to the daily life of a sea-nomadic community, with such intimacy and beauty.” See here for more details.

Walking Under Water gets the the John Schlesinger Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival

The jury of Palm Springs International Film Festival issued the following statement: “Walking Under Water is a masterful and lush meditation of an unknown world that reveals a strong humanity while pushing the boundaries of filmmaking. Walking Under Water is a visually and sonically elegant work that never falters – an extraordinary film.”


Honorable Mention at LA Film Festival

Eliza Kurbaska on stage at the Los Angeles Film Festival after receiving an Honorable Mention for Walking Underwater in the Documentary Awards. The jury commented that the film was a “Deeply moving account of human struggle in the natural and spirit worlds, told with both harrowing immediacy and stunning visual poetry”.

At the Planete+ Documentary Film Festival in Ploand, an Honorable Mention in the Canon Cinematography Awards went to Eliza Kubarska’s “Walking Under Water”, which the jury praised for “composition, ambience, light and ideal camerawork as well as the perfect correspondence of film form and content”

Walking Under Water wins Spencial Jury Prize at HotDocs 2014 in Toronto

Director Eliza Kubarska, producer Monika Braid and DOP Piotr Rosolowski take center stage to receive the coveted Special Jury Prize at Hot Docs in Toronto, the biggest documentary film festival in the Northern America.

From 2500 submissions, 197 films from 43 different countries were shown this year. Walking Under Water was presented in the International Spectrum category.
